TAROCCO PIEMONTESE - PER DIVINAZIONE, MODIANO, TRIESTE, SINCE 1868

Il gioco dei tarocchi è nato nel nord Italia a metà del XV secolo, molto probabilmente presso il Ducato di Milano.
Grazie alla sua vicinanza con Milano, il Piemonte ben presto conosce e utilizza queste carte: il documento più antico è il DISCORSO SOPRA L'ORIGINE DELLE FIGURE DEI TAROCCHI, di Francesco Piscina da Carmagnola del 1565.

Intorno al 1830 una famiglia di Torino, i Vergnano, avvia la produzione di un nuovo modello, oggi definito "Tarocco piemontese", simile ai Tarocchi di Marsiglia.

I tarocchi piemontesi si distinguono dai marsigliesi per alcuni elementi iconografici e per l'uso dei numeri arabi al posto di quelli romani.

Questo mazzo di tarocchi è realizzato da Modiano, azienda storica nata nel 1868 a Trieste, la prima città italiana che ebbe l'autorizzazione per stampare carte da gioco.

The traditional format uses Italian inscriptions and Arabic numerals on the trumps. Piedmont Tarot Cards can be used to play popular card games and also for divinatory tarot readings.

The Piedmont Tarot Card Deck is made by Modiano, a historical company founded in 1868 and based in Trieste, Italy, the first city in Italy authorized to print playing cards.
