HIGH QUALITY STORK SCISSORS

Stork scissors appeared in the 19th century as part of the kit used by midwives during births: initially they had the function of clamps to stop the blood flow of the umbilical cord immediately after birth.

During the births, the midwives also used to bring their sewing basket to stitch during the long waiting time: thus, in use, the stork scissors became the tool for cutting the embroidery threads.

The use of this scissors model spread rapidly, becoming an essential tool of the sewing box on a global scale.

But why the stork? The stork has always been associated with birth, thanks to its migratory behaviour: storks migrate in late summer and return in spring. Their arrival has always coincided with a peak in the birth rate.

FORBICI DA CUCITO A CICOGNA ALTA QUALITA'

Le forbici a cicogna fanno la loro comparsa nel XIX secolo all'interno del kit utilizzato dalle ostetriche durante i parti: inizialmente avevano la funzione di morsetti per fermare il flusso sanguigno del cordone ombelicale subito dopo la nascita.

Durante i parti, le ostetriche erano solite portare con sé anche la borsa del cucito per ingannare i lunghi tempi dell'attesa: così, nell'uso, le forbici a cicogna divennero lo strumento per tagliare i fili del ricamo.

L'uso di questo modello di forbici si diffuse rapidamente, diventando strumento imprescindibile della scatola del cucito su scala globale.

Ma perché la cicogna? Da sempre la cicogna è associata alla nascita, grazie al suo ritmo migratorio. Le cicogne migrano alla fine dell'estate e tornano a primavera. Il loro arrivo coincide da sempre con un picco del tasso di natalità.
